Press & Media

Press resources.

Guardians of the AV is a Phase 0 alpha — the platform is live at guardiansoftheav.com but no paid pilot has begun. This page gives reporters and policy analysts a single place to find contacts, verified facts, documents, and pre-answered tough questions. If something here is wrong or incomplete, email press@guardiansofsolano.com and we will correct on the record.

Press contact

Primary: press@guardiansofsolano.com — monitored by Aaron Turner directly. First reply within one business day.

Aaron’s cell: available on request for time-sensitive press calls — email first.

Anadora Turner (clinical co-lead): interview requests routed through press@guardiansofsolano.com to preserve clinical-work boundaries. Direct requests go through Aaron first.

Fact-check support

If you want to verify a specific claim before publication, here is where to look:

  • Anadora’s LCSW license: California Board of Behavioral Sciences public lookup at search.dca.ca.gov.
  • Social Good Fund (fiscal sponsor): IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search — EIN 46-1323531, a California 501(c)(3) public charity.
  • Homelessness statistics: /primary-sources indexes every sourced number on the site.
  • Database schema and RLS policies: maintained in supabase/migrations in our repository. Our source code will be made public when we exit Phase 0; the repo is currently private. Email press@guardiansofsolano.com to arrange a schema walkthrough before then.
  • Something not listed here: email press@guardiansofsolano.com with the specific claim. If it is on the public site and not sourced, that is a bug and we will correct it.

Tough questions — pre-answered

These are the answers Aaron gives on the record. Reporters are welcome to push on any of them.

“What happens to DV-survivor data?”

Guardians of the AV does not hold domestic-violence survivor data. When a resident discloses DV, the platform routes to local victim-service providers and the National DV Hotline (1-800-799-7233). Guardians of the AV never becomes the data controller for DV records. The database schema contains no DV-survivor classification fields; no admin role can create one. This carve-out is grounded in VAWA 34 U.S.C. §12291(b)(2) and is non-waivable.

“How does Aaron get paid?”

Aaron draws $0 from Guardians of the AV today. In this grassroots phase, operating expenses are covered by the founders out of personal income from other sources. Once our fiscal-sponsor account is in place, donations will be tax-deductible through our fiscal sponsor, Social Good Fund (a 501(c)(3)), earmarked for the project; counter-signature is pending. Any future founder compensation requires three gates in sequence: 501(c)(3) Determination Letter issued for Guardians of the AV, Inc., independent-majority board seated with the §4958 rebuttable-presumption procedure operational, and a formal comp-committee cycle completed. There is no mechanism to pay Aaron before that sequence runs.

“How is Guardians of the AV set up — what’s the legal structure?”

Guardians of the AV is a grassroots project of Aaron and Anadora Turner. There is no for-profit parent and no IP license — the founders chose to start clean as a single nonprofit. We are pursuing a fiscal-sponsorship arrangement with Social Good Fund (a California 501(c)(3), EIN 46-1323531) — counter-signature pending; once it is in place, donations will be tax-deductible through Social Good Fund — while we form our own 501(c)(3), Guardians of the AV, Inc. The express intent is to stand up that public-benefit corporation as the permanent home for the work. See /why-catalyst for the full explanation from the founders.

“You’re not a nonprofit — can donors get a tax deduction?”

Not yet directly. Tax-deductible donations are being structured through a fiscal-sponsorship arrangement with Social Good Fund (EIN 46-1323531), a California 501(c)(3) public charity — counter-signature pending. Once in place, donors give to Social Good Fund earmarked for the Guardians of the AV project and receive a 501(c)(3) tax receipt. The 501(c)(3) filing for Guardians of the AV, Inc. is in parallel, with a Determination Letter target of Q2 2027.

“What is your ‘kill-switch’ design principle?”

The kill-switch is a design principle, not a deployed operational mechanism as of Phase 0. The commitment is: if a Sev-1 data incident occurs, Aaron has the technical authority to halt platform operations within a defined response window. The incident-response runbook lives at docs/operations/incident_response_runbook.md in our repository. Our source code will be made public when we exit Phase 0; the repo is currently private — we will send the runbook to any reporter on request in the meantime. The ability to halt is constrained by the clinical co-lead sign-off requirement for DV-routing changes (founding charter §3.6).

Embargo policy

We will honor any reasonable embargo a reporter sets in writing before we receive the piece. We will not honor embargoes imposed after we have seen the piece without our agreement. We decline to comment on speculative pieces — if a reporter does not yet have a concrete angle and a publication date, we will say so and ask to reconnect when the piece is closer to a draft. We will not provide off-the-record commentary about partner organizations, county officials, or individual residents.

What we’ll send if asked

A reporter who wants the full operational documentation can ask for any of the following. These documents live in our repository, which is currently private — our source code will be made public when we exit Phase 0. Email press@guardiansofsolano.com and we will send any of them. We provide everything except attorney-client privileged communications, individual resident data, and partner-organization data covered by the partner data-processing agreement.

  • Founding charter
  • Data-processing posture brief
  • CISO data-architecture diagram
  • Phase 0 success criteria (includes SHELVE triggers)
  • Incident-response runbook
